Once it becomes understood that Daniel chapter 10 is actually referring to the End Times and should be directly connected to chapter 12, then chapter 10 should be thoroughly re-examined in that same light. And if that's the case which it certainly is, then who was this Prince of Persia mentioned in 10:13 if it wasn't King Cyrus like most have come to believe it to be? To get a better idea it's important to first see what exactly is going on in these verses. The evil prince was attempting to keep Gabriel from going back into the past and delivering this vitally important message to Daniel concerning the time of the end. He was called out of the future Battle in which he was engaged in before Gabriel got summonsed to speak with the prophet, but it never does really explain why the evil Prince was holding him back until Michael came to help him. Then Gabriel explains to Daniel that he must return to fight the Prince of Persia, he was insinuating that he needed to return to the far future (which is our immediate future)to finish the battle.
When Gabe returns to fight him, he takes the keys to the bottomless pit then unleashes the evil Prince of Grecia (Dan 10:20) (Apollyon) from the bottomless pit (Rev 9:1) along with his demons (Locusts)and they go forth to fight the evil Persian Prince and his demons. (Islamist's pushing the Mark) But after 3.5 worth of that hell on earth Michael "Stands up" for the Children of Daniel's people,(Daniel 10:21,12:1, Rev 10:1) which is Israel and the Gentile Christians who were also grafted in. Below i placed both corresponding sentences together to make to the comparison easier.
Dan 10:20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
Rev 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. Rev 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
Dan 10:21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
So satan and his get booted from heaven in Rev 12:7-9 and inhabit or "possess" human host bodies where they can begin fulfilling the Persian side of Dan 10:20, and Apollyon of Rev 9:11 is the Grecian prince who is his direct adversary. Then there's 3.5 years of hell on earth (literally) prior to Michael standing up in Dan 10:21, and when that happens the whole world is going to know it..
Anyway there's your "Antichrist" and the reason why he was attempting to restrain Daniel back in 10:13 (and did so for 3 weeks) was because satan knew that Gabriel knew who he was and where he would arise from, modern day Iran. The devil might have been able to detain the "Archangel" Gabriel (see Dan 12:5-6) in Daniel 10:13, but this wasn't his first attempt at stopping him. In Daniel 9:21 Gabriel tells Daniel; "Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation." (KJV emphasized) Gabriel was being "caused" to fly swiftly for some reason or another, but just like Dan 10:13 he never does give the reason why. It gives reason for his being because he was sent, but it never does tell why he was having to fly swiftly as to be trying to get away from something. This is Gabriel being chased by the evil Persian prince, but since this was Gabriel's "first" attempt at spilling the beans he was somehow able to out maneuver him "this time".
Daniel 8:20-25 is also mentioning Persia (Iran) as being involved in the Latter day explanation of Daniel's vision, and satan somehow knew once again that Gabriel knew of his identity and was attempting to stop him from making it back in time to tell Daniel. But he failed miserably and Daniel would go on to learn all about him in Dan 11:2 (the fourth King)and 11:36-40. And this is where the "Switch" (link)becomes essential to understand because Daniel chapter 11 is actually the continuation of chapter 9.
So anyway, i hope this sheds a little bit of light on exactly who this Antichrist is, but since this was the first time ever putting this together like this, it might get tweaked a time or two. :-)
God bless you Brothers and Sisters and may His blessed Son reign forever, Amen
